5 Fall Leaf Play Activities

Fall is here! And so are endless ways to play with nature’s favorite toy - LEAVES!

Check out 5 easy leaf activities you can do with your kids that require little more than what’s already outside.

  1. Leaf Rubbings: Grab a leaf and place it under a piece of paper. Use crayons or pencils to rub over the leaf and watch its veins and shape appear!

  2. Leaf Pile Jump: What’s more classic than a big pile of leaves? That your kids rake up a pile – or several – and jump right in!

  3. Leaf Art Collage: collect a variety of colorful leaves and create leaf “pictures” by arranging them into fun shapes or designs on the ground - think leaf animals, patterns, or even faces.

  4. Leaf Sorting Challenge: Challenge your kids, to gather different types, sizes, and colors of leaves. Then, they can sort them by category – biggest smallest, by color, or by shape.

  5. Leaf Nature Hunt: turn leaf collecting into an adventure! Create a list of leaf types or colors to find and let your kids run around looking for them. Turn it into a race and see who gets the most!
