10 Outdoor Valentine’s Day Activities for Kids
Forget the sugar overload—this Valentine’s Day, why not celebrate outside?
We’ve happened to be vacationing in Florida the last 3 Valentines Days and our favorite tradition is having a “love breakfast”.
My husband and I whip up a big breakfast - some years it’s been heart shaped pancakes, other years one of us would run out and get heart-shaped donuts for the kids - and we all eat breakfast together outside. My kids look forward to it every year!
Whether you have snow, rain, or sunshine, these simple nature-inspired activities make it easy to enjoy fresh air, movement, and a little extra love.
1) Nature “Love Notes” – Collect leaves, sticks, or stones and arrange them into a heart.
2) Make a Heart-Shaped Bird Feeder – Spread peanut butter on a pinecone, roll in birdseed, and hang it outside.
3) Go on a “Heart Hunt” – Look for heart-shaped rocks, leaves, or tree knots.
4) Outdoor Valentine’s Picnic – Grab blankets, warm drinks, and enjoy a snack in the fresh air.
5) Chalk Love Notes – Write messages of love and kindness on sidewalks or driveways.
6) Love Tree Tradition – Tie red or pink ribbons on a tree branch and make a wish for the year ahead.
7) Blow “Kisses” in the Wind – Make paper airplanes with love notes written inside and see how far they fly!
8) Backyard Bonfire & S’mores – Gather around for a cozy fire, roast marshmallows, and share what you love most about each other.
9) Stargazing & Love Stories – Snuggle up outside, look for constellations, and tell stories about people you love.
10) Dance in the Snow (or Rain!) – Put on your favorite music and have a Valentine’s Day dance party outside!
I’ll always maintain that the best memories come from the simple moments.
Whether you’re collecting heart-shaped rocks or telling stories about the people you love, Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be about stuff—let’s make it about spending time with the ones that matter.
